Welcome to Visual Arts
The Visual Arts program welcomes all artists, regardless of ability! From the very foundations in grades 9 and 10, students learn how to draw by learning how to "see". The goals for our art students are to build technical skills in a variety of mediums, build creativity through experimentation, and build critical thinking skills by allowing students to approach artistic problems and solve them using many different perspectives. Students learn how to read and interpret art based on our art history studies. As students become more proficient in their skills, they develop their "artistic voices" by using and manipulating the elements and principles of art that they learn in class. Built on a spirit of collaboration and peer support, the visual arts program is for everyone!
